One November, we signed up for a race at Disney which coincided with a Food Festival at Epcot. Countries from all over the world showcased specific cuisines that originated from their country. Chefs demonstrated culinary skills and shared ideas. There was something to please everyone. Croissants from France, Bangers and Mash from Ireland, Brot & Brötchen from Germany and warm Scottish Shortbread from Scotland.
It was tempting to sample something from every kiosk and restaurant and while we could burn a lot of calories by walking through the parks, keeping our focus on feeding our flesh would have left us feeling defeated and too tired to race the next day.
Just as runners prepare nutritionally as they train for a race, good nutrition should be a part of our ongoing training to renew our minds daily to the Word of God. We need the nutrition of God’s Word to receive healing, be prosperous and have victory in our life.
We are spiritual beings and God created us to live and feed on His Word.
It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God – (Matt 4:4)
God’s Word is our spiritual sustenance. It satisfies our hunger, our wants and our desires. Only God’s Word can give us strength and wisdom to live above the corruption in the world.
Know what you are feeding on daily!
Look at what is dominating in your life. Are there areas where you feel unfulfilled, tired, stressed? All the wages of sin equal death. Sickness, depression, loneliness, hatred, poverty, fear and everything else from sin = death. If we are carnally minded it is death. That is a powerful realization. If we say we are spiritually minded but are experiencing death then we are being deceived. We must let the spiritual truth of God’s Word which equals life and peace dominate.
Rom. 8:6 – The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
God’s Word is a seed. We plant it in our hearts and it grows. Proverbs 18:20 says: A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Did you know that God can change your appetite! Don’t like reading your bible daily? Ask God to make it come alive to you. Dislike healthy foods? Ask God to change your heart so that you crave foods that are good for you.
Make a firm commitment – an immovable decision, to put the old way of thinking and old wants and desires behind you. Anchor on the truth of God’s Word by faith and believe you are delivered – MOVE forward!
