Are you facing a storm or does it look like impending stormy weather? The good news – Jesus gives us peace in the middle of the storms of life.
Matthew 8:23 tells us that Jesus, got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
If you have experienced a major storm, you know the feeling as it begins and the feeling when it is over. There are times we will face storms, but we can take comfort knowing God is the ultimate storm calmer.
Jesus can still calm the storms in your life
Jesus wants to have faith in Him. Nothing is too difficult for Him. If you can trust God with your eternity, you can certainly trust Him with your tomorrow.
While it is great to have a support system of like minded believers, friends and family, there will be times when we must know without doubt that we personally believe in Jesus Christ and all His benefits.
It is comforting to have a friend or GPS for assistance and navigation, but there may be times when you will need to rely on your own ability through Christ – his ability. When we need every ounce of energy to simply focus on the road ahead, we must know that God is the light on our path Psalms 119:105.
Nothing is impossible with God. We need to remove our limits on God and trust that He is always working for our good and can do the impossible.
Jesus gives us peace:
Jesus could take a nap in the middle of the storm. When He awoke, He was assessing His disciples’ faith and wanted them to be able to have peace in the storm too. God is honored when we trust Him right now, even in the middle of storms in our life. Trust that God is able. Trust that God is on His way with help. Trust that God is with you. Trust that God has given you His peace no matter what happens and you can draw on His peace whenever needed.
