Do you have a role model?
The dictionary defines role model as a person to be looked to by others as an example to be imitated.
In this world, there are no role models for grace. Your employer hires you based on performance. In sports, relationships are based on how well you perform, some parent-child relationship are based on performance. When it comes to God, your performance can’t earn you anything. It is your faith in Jesus that will grant you access to God.
When we are born again, we come to Jesus just as we are. Jesus is the perfect role model. If we are to emulate someone, it should be Jesus. Look unto me and be saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else – Isaiah 45:22 (KJV)
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Jesus offers a model of leadership that’s built on freedom and complete security in Him and His power at work within us. While the world markets self-empowerment, self-reliance, competition, peer pressure and performance, Jesus frees us to reach heights of influence we never would be able to reach on our own. When we are free from pride and fear, free to humbly accept feedback, strong enough to overlook offenses and forgive the errors of others, we can lead people and help them reach their full potential. We can do all these things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us in Him.
