Have you heard the phrase “Good things come to those who wait?” I recently returned from Germany. During the flight announcement the airline ran a marketing campaign stating “It’s not good things come to those who wait, it’s good things come to those who go!”
That is true for today! In Matthew 28:19-20 our instructions are clear:
So what is next?
2 Peter 1:3 says, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.
We are to go and make disciples teaching people the truth of God’s Word so they too can know what they have in Christ. We are to be imitators of our teacher Jesus (John 8:31).
Each disciple should be able to know God’s truth so well and be so grounded in it that they can receive from God on their own. We need to be so well trained in the gospel that we can reproduce our Christian faith in others.
John 14:12. As witnesses we are empowered to share and relate what we have experienced by providing evidence to the truth of something.Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Jesus gave us a progression of being his witness in Acts 1:8:
- Start in Jerusalem (where we live)
- Go to Judea (those nearby – close cities)
- Finally, take the Gospel to Samaria (every religious and racial group throughout the whole world)
Mark 16:15 – He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 1 Chronicles 16:23 – Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
