In business, after a project is completed, it’s time for a lessons-learned discussion. Why? Lessons learned discussions are performed for three reasons: The first is to learn from mistakes and to avoid them in the future. The second is to gather best practices and successful ways of doing something — and to pass on this knowledge. The third reason is to build trust. Involving people in the process and allowing them to share their perspectives will make them more supportive of future projects.
The books of the Bible are full of lessons learned. We don’t have to go through what the authors go through to learn from them.
The book of Ruth is a great lesson learned that the past is not our final destination when we trust God.
In the book of Habakkuk, we see a man who clung to God and His promises. The name Habakkuk means one who embraces. Habakkuk wrote, “yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer’s; He makes me tread on my high places” (Habakkuk 3:18-19).
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
“Lessons learned” are valuable insights, takeaways, and teachings that come from experiences, whether positive or negative. These lessons can help you make better decisions, improve your skills, and grow as a person.
The Bible is our compass to guide us through lessons learned by applying them to our lives providing us with guidance, comfort, and inspiration to navigate challenges and grow spiritually and morally.
