The saying “April showers bring May flowers” is usually something to look forward to at the onset of Spring to help things grow. But what if the showers seem never-ending? How can we search for blue skies?
The answer comes in the power of God’s Word. We can find inspiration in Holy Spirit and in speaking God’s Word. If the busyness of the world has you consistently walking with an umbrella, it is time to speak and believe those blue skies into existence.
Prov 18:21 – When we speak, what are we speaking? Life or death? I speak to the weather all the time. Too cold, speak for warmth, too rainy, speak clear skies. Want snow for Christmas (yes, thank you), call in the snow in Jesus name!
Paul suffered persecution that not only involved physical torment but emotional pain that most of us can’t even imagine; yet he was able to call all his trouble just a “light affliction” (2 Cor. 4:17).
His affliction wasn’t light because it was less than ours, but because he put it into a different perspective. He said his afflictions were light because they were “but for a moment” (2 Cor. 4:17). After a million years in the presence of the Lord, all the hardships of his life would seem like nothing. That’s true for all of us.
There are many scriptures that command us to rejoice and be glad (Ps. 32:11, 40:16, 68:3, 70:4). No matter what weather we are facing, we can rejoice in the midst (Ps. 34:1, Matt. 5:12, and John 16:33).
