When we look at the world today do we see unity or differences? In 1 Corinthians 1:10 – Paul appeals to the Corinthians that allowed their carnality to damage the unity of believers.
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
To live in a world that is not divided, we must be the “We” in We the People. God is calling each of us to change the world and be Christ representors showing love and grace wherever we go.
As believers, we know the greatest and most perfect author of unity – Jesus Christ. We can celebrate unity through Jesus Christ today by walking in love.
Begin by thinking differently:
The Bible teaches us that our thoughts are the determining factor which controls our actions.
Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Romans 8:6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” If we want to see change, we have to think differently which in turn, will change our actions. It’s not just what we think about that needs changing we must change our thinking process. Our emotions are linked directly to how we think. We have a choice to become better not bitter!
Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
God Almighty gave us a choice. We have the privilege and responsibility to choose blessing or cursing. God tells us what to choose – Choose LIFE!
To live in the spirit and not in our flesh God’s Word is the key.
Jesus says in John 6:63, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” Any thought or emotion that agrees with what God’s Word says about you is from your new man. Any thought or emotion that violates God’s Word is from your old man or the devil.
If you are angry with someone, you’re in the flesh (old man). Just get back in the spirit (new man) where you have love, joy, and peace Gal. 5:22.
We have God’s love to see through differences and unloveliness, to lead the confused, broken, hopeless, hurting and oppressed. In love, we can change the World. God has faith in each of us to do this. What a great commission!
