Cork Ireland and The Seamen’s Christian Friend Society:
We had the pleasure of meeting Colin on our mission trip to Ireland in 2016. Colin and his family support the Seamen’s Christian Society by going to the local port and bringing sailors bibles, knit hats and toys. Colin tirelessly shares God’s Word and encouragement to each ship that arrives daily.
On the day we visited the port, we met with 7 men on a soybean ship. It was an honor to get to know these men and listen to their stories about leaving their family in order to provide a better life for them. We shared Jesus, the Gospel and prayed with and for them. Taking on a ship assignment means the crew can be away from their loved ones for a year or more.
Colin also provides computer support, sim cards and a chance for them to talk to family. The men we met were hungry to know Jesus and read any literature or books we had.
Colin reminds us how 1 person can make a difference in God’s Kingdom.
To relate the love of God in word and deed to vast oceans of seafarers who daily visit our shores from all over the world. SCFS has port chaplains in the UK, Ireland and Worldwide. If you would like to learn more about The Seamen’s Christian Friend Society, please click the links below:

According to current estimates there are about 10 million seafarers in the world. Maritime transport is of fundamental importance to Europe and the rest of the world. Over 90% of European Union external trade goes by sea and more than 3.7 billion tons of freight a year are loaded and unloaded in EU ports.
